Poul Kjærholm

1929-1980

Danish designer Poul Kjærholm began his career at the School of Arts andCrafts in Copenhagen, Denmark, with a lounge chair crafted out of a single piece of steel. This initial piece introduced the notions of materials and wear that would characterize his later work. His designs have been featured in many museums and galleries. Recently, the Museum of Modern Art in New York installed the daybeds, as well as tables and chairs by Kjærholm in its public spaces and resaurant.
