Finn Juhl

Finn Juhl

1912-1989

Born in Denmark in 1912, Finn Juhl was a pioneer in Danish Modern design, and his designs are some of the most creative and graceful in the movement. After attending the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture, he went on to work with architect Vilhelm Lauritzen, creating the clean, functional edifices that are the hallmark of the functionalism movement. Much of his work was designed for his own home - an early example of open concept interior space. Award winning creations like the Poet Sofa, the Baker Sofa and the Pelican series have been exhibited in numerous art and design museums.
